I was born in Lima and baptized at St. Gerard Church. My Grandpa, Ed Sunderhaus, made the altar in our church. Both my husband, Mike, and I went to school at St. Gerard, sent our four children here, and I have taught at SGS for twenty-twoyears. I got my start in the fourth and fifth grades. I later moved up to the eighth grade spot.
Mike and I have two daughters, Kelly and Molly, and two sons, Kevin and Patrick and three grandchildren, Annie and Nathan and Patrick. We also have two wonderful sons-in-law, Mark Monahan and Brian Goad and two daughters-in-law, Randi (who is also a teacher.) and Carann.
I am also a graduate of LCC and The Ohio State University.
I have been involved in the Innovative Educator Program in the Toledo Diocese as a model teacher for ten years. We have been learning about how to teach our kids with the current brain research .
Working as a Reading, Language Arts teacher for 7th and 8th graders has been my position for fifteen years, and it is a job that I love. I tell my students that one of my favorite parts of the day is when I read aloud to them.
The Power of the Pen is a writing competition for seventh and eighth graders. Coaching these young writers is very rewarding for me.
I love St. Gerard School, and I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else.
