Welcome / Welcome back Dear St. Gerard Families, Fall is an exciting time and we are looking forward to a successful and exciting year. We are your Home and School Association. Home and School Association (which you may see referred to as HSA) is similar to a PTA or PTO. We are a parent-run organization consisting of parents, teachers, and administrators who share a common goal. That goal is to create a better school and a better educational environment for our children. We work to support and sponsor many activities that all of the students enjoy. We help support field trips, school clubs, and offer classroom support. We help purchase items that the teachers need and use in the classroom as well as items to beautify our school and keep our campus safe. We sponsor and coordinate many family activities throughout the school year including, Trunk or Treating (new this year), Irish Day Parade, Easter Egg Hunt and various Family Nights. We host a Staff Appreciation Luncheon during Catholic Schools Week, and donate books and money to the school library. We are able to do this through our fund raising efforts, which include the Craft Show, Book Fair, and Santa Shop. In addition, as a service to our families, we sponsor the Used Uniform Sale/Swap. We have many committees that are active at different times of the year and require various levels of commitment. The success of the HSA is dependant upon people who are enthusiastic about volunteering at our school. Whatever your own level of flexibility, HSA always appreciates their parent volunteers, as does our teachers and staff. Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference. Theres a lot to be accomplished, and WE NEED YOU! We need yours ideas and energy to make this a successful year. Have a great school year!
